This Antigua Guatemala day tour will lead you through the main streets and attractions of this colonial city, as well as, three villages nearby. San Juan del Obispo is the place known for the first archbishop’s palace in Guatemala and for their handmade wine.

It was founded by Bishop Francisco Marroquin who built this palace. Ciudad Vieja contains the ruins of the second colonial capital.

While San Antonio Aguas Calientes villages will share the beauties of its colonial white church and the many skills of weaving. It will be difficult to choose one favorite by the end of the day.

What to Expect

You can begin this tour by being picked up from your hotel in Antigua, Guatemala or from Guatemala City International Airport.

You will tour around the main areas of Antigua, Guatemala, such as La Merced church and the Cathedral. Handmade wine, fruits, handicrafts and coffee plantations await you in “The Land of Loquat,” which is the colonial town of San Juan del Obispo.

Take in the site built for the first archbishop’s palace in Guatemala and enjoy the views of Water Volcano from this town. Ciudad Vieja provides the history of a previous capital of Guatemala. The neighborhood of San Miguel Escobar holds the ruins of the colonial capital.

One of the most incredible handmade views of the day will be to see the traditional clothing, women’s blouses, in San Antonio Aguas Calientes villages. These blouses have a 2-faced weave, which makes the front and back identical. You will see the importance of weaving in this indigenous Mayan town.
