Flight arrives into Mexico City International Airport, and you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2Teotihuacan Pyramids & Shrine of Guadalupe

Today you will visit the Shrine of Guadalupe, which is Mexico’s largest religious shrine and the most important of the Catholic religion. It holds a special place in the religious life of this country. Next, you will continue to Teotihuacan, “The City of the Gods,” to be amazed with the impressive pyramids and to climb to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun. Plan to feel the mysticism of one of the most incredible places in the world.

Hop on this sightseeing guided tour of Mexico City and delve into the history and art of the sprawling metropolis. Your guide will take you inside the Metropolitan Cathedral, the largest church in all of Latin America; the National Palace with the best Diego Rivera murals in Mexico City and the Anthropological Museum, home to the famous Aztec Calendar Stone.

This is a tour day to discover the colonial beauty of Coyoacán, which has become a rich pocket of art and history in Mexico’s capital, stroll through North America’s oldest university and gain insight into Frida Kahlo’s life and artwork at her former home-museum, Casa Azul.

Through the waterways of Xochimilco, the calm waters of its canals and its floating gardens, you will enjoy a picturesque cruise through one of the last traces of the Aztec period in a traditional ‘trajinera’ or pre-Hispanic boat.

Today you will enjoy the sights from the sky, as you take an international flight to Guatemala City followed by a domestic flight to the beautiful Flores Island. Here you will end the day with a pleasant sunset boat ride on Peten Itza Lake, surrounded by 27 Mayan sites. Be prepared to step into Tayazal ruins and let yourself be amazed at the kaleidoscope of sunset colors over the calm waters of the lake.

Day 6Tour to the Mayan City of Tikal

This day brings a visit to the classic Mayan Ruins at Tikal, located in Peten, the northernmost department of the country. This huge territory is considered one of the breathing lungs of planet earth, due to its dense vegetation. Tikal is known for the numbers of walls and vaults still standing, but perhaps the most spectacular attraction is the city’s Great Plaza, home to palaces, ceremonial buildings, stelae, carved altars, and the two giant pyramids known today as Temple I, “Temple of the Great Jaguar,” and Temple II. This personal encounter with the lost world shall be a truly unforgettable experience.

You will take a domestic flight back to Guatemala City, and then be transferred to Lake Atitlan, which according to National Geographic is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world!

Day 8Lake Atitlan - Boat tour to indigenous villages

The views of the three impressive volcanoes that serve as a backdrop to Lake Atitlan, will provide the landscape of the tour that will guide you to know the customs and culture of some of the picturesque indigenous towns that surround this beautiful lake.

Day 10Tour to the Mayan Site of Iximche - Antigua Guatemala

You will visit Iximche today, a small Mayan archaeological site in the western highlands of Guatemala. This site holds a lot of importance for the history of modern Central America and especially for Guatemala. It was declared a national monument in the 1960s.
Afterwards, you will continue on to the Colonial City of Antigua, Guatemala.

Start this morning with a short ride to one of the oldest and most established coffee estates in Guatemala. Follow the path of the coffee bean from the nursery to your cup and conclude this tour with an educational tasting.

Then, you will be led to discover the magnificent Antigua, Guatemala through all of the most interesting and local spots in this unique city that seems to be frozen in time. This colonial city is famous for its beautiful Spanish Baroque-influenced colonial-era architecture, cobblestone streets, old churches and ruins.

Day 12Hike to the active volcano of Pacaya

You will discover today that hiking an active volcano, still with lava hot-spots, cooled lava chambers and a broken peak from the big eruption of 2010 is a fun and rewarding experience! Volcan Pacaya is less challenging than other hikes, but the views and volcanic landscape make it so worthwhile by giving you the opportunity to see things most tourists do not. You will also get to toast marshmallows on the recently cooled lava!

Day 13Guatemala City International Airport

Your adventurous and fun trip through Mexico and Guatemala ends today. You will be transferred to the international airport of Guatemala City for your departure flight.
